Printer Setting for InDesign .

my current printer requires all files , have outlined text/fonts, and  Black is " accurate " C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100

Unfortunately this runs out a "muddy " black but is a the full color press requirement.

in order to active this in InDesign  you have to  adjust a few settings , . You must go to settings

Setting Appearance of black in InDesign

You must change your "Appearance of Black" settings in InDesign.

Edit > preferances> Appearance of Black

Set  to " Display all Blacks

" Display all Blacks Accurately"

"output all blacks accurately "

Click the check box : Over Printing of {black}

  • overprint black swatch at 100%

this should change your blacks to C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100

Step 2: Outlining fonts in Indesign

use InDesign's transparency flattener to convert the text automatically for you when you export a PDF. To do this, you'll need a custom flattener setting, which you can create by choosing

Edit > Transparency Flattener Presets.

once here select high rez , and NEW to create a new preset, I named it after my printer.

  • turn on the Convert All Text to Outlines checkbox.

now for this to work , you need to have a transparency on ALL pages you want the text outlined and flattened.

To do this I opened photoshop and created a 1 by 1 pixel empty transparent  PSD file nad added it to every page with text in my document.

once that is done export  your PDF,

use Adobe PDF presents { high Quality Print}

standard is [none]  and Compatibility set to Acrobat 4, which lets you implement the flattener.

the flattener is located under the Advanced pane of the Export PDF dialog box . Choose the present you created above. and click Export.
